Romantic Bridal Makeup

9 May

I tried to go for a really flawless face for this bridal look – perfect skin with pink lips.  This would work best for spring/summer daytime weddings. I’m going to do a more evening appropriate look next in this series!

*Tip: For a really flawless face you need five things: a great concealer, a medium to full coverage foundation, a highlighter, a blush, and a bronzer to contour with.

~ Conceal any dark circles and blemishes with the concealer.

~ Blend the foundation evenly over the entire face.

~ Again, conceal any blemishes that still may be showing through.

~ Apply blush to the apples of the cheeks sweeping a little back towards the hairline.

~ Contour the face in a “3″ shape – starting at the forehead just above the temples, bringing it down under the cheek bones, and finally back towards the ear and down to the jawline.

~ Finish with a light highlighter on the tops of the cheekbones, and any other place you would like to be highlighted (tip of the nose, cupids bow, above the eyebrows, and chin).

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Polish in Pacific BlueLove this color! I have it on my toes right now. It’s just an amazing blue shade in a cream finish.  I’m really not into shimmer or pearl nail polishes at the moment, so this is one of the creams I have in rotation!

Gotta B’ Urban kabuki brush – Sooo amazingly soft! I use this brush nearly every day to touch up my mineral foundation or to apply a light layer of powder over my liquid foundation.

N.Y.C. Blushable Creme Stick in Big Apple BlushN.Y.C. really shines with some products and this is one of them.  It’s just a great cream blush in a stick form.  I just dot some on the apples of my cheeks (it’s very pigmented) and blend it back towards my hairline.  It’s a super quick and easy way to get a gorgeous flushed look.

Coastal Scents HD Foundation in ST-02I can’t say enough about this foundation: it’s the perfect shade, has awesome coverage, doesn’t break me out, blends seamlessly, lasts all day, and looks good under flash photography.  I still wear mineral foundation most days, but I wear this when I go out, when I know I’ll be photographed, or when I want a perfectly flawless face.

Almay One Coat Nourishing Triple Effect mascara in blackI’m so glad I repurchased this mascara!  It’s my absolute favorite.  Somehow it makes my tiny lashes look long and thick, it’s  awesome.

Cover Girl Outlast Lipstain in 430 Coy CoralEvery year whenever summer’s around the corner, I start wanting that stained lip I-just-ate-a-popsicle look, and this product is perfect for that.  I just put a little on the inner part of my lips and smudge it with my finger before it dries to get a perfect pout.

Bargain Finds: Stila and Gotta B’ Urban

Stila & Gotta B Urban

I found these at Winners a few days ago! Pictured above: Gotta B’ Urban kabuki brush (with a blue tipped bristles) and Stila Lip Envy Silk Shimmer Lip Gloss Trio.

I was absolutely amazed to see Stila stuff at one of my local Winners stores.  I don’t have a Sephora store near me and Stila is kinda hard to get where I live, so I really lunged at this lip gloss trio when I saw it.  The sad thing is, it’s from a few seasons ago and these glosses don’t have names, but they’re beautiful anyway.  I checked Stila’s website for more information but the only Silk Shimmer Gloss they’re carrying is Kitten.  It retails for $22 and I got three of them for $9.99!  Plus they smell amazing and last a pretty long time.

I’ve been looking for a little kabuki brush for a while now and was considering getting the big bronzer kabuki from Ecotools but I found this little guy instead (for $6.99).  I haven’t really heard much about Gotta B’ Urban brushes except the fact that they’re good.  As far as I can tell the company doesn’t have a website and I can’t find any more info besides actual product reviews.  Either way, this is a really nice brush with ultra soft synthetic bristles, perfect for applying powder or mineral foundation!

Definitely run out to your local Winners store to see if they are carrying these products, they’re sooo worth checking out.

*Update: I just washed the kabuki brush – no shedding or color bleeding!  :D

Products I’m Loving – March 2010

31 Mar

A few products that I’m absolutely loving lately! I haven’t made a post like this since September, but I’m going to try to do them every month or so from now on.

products I'm loving

Cortex Special Edition Platinum Collection Zebra Ceramic Flat Iron 1.5 inch -  Awesome flat iron! I actually found this at Winners (the Canadian version of T.J. Maxx) for 39.99!  I think it’s regularly like over $150 so it was a really great deal.  I love the super cute zebra design and how smoothly it glides through my hair.  Plus, it keeps my stubborn wavy hair straight all day which is an amazing feat in itself.

Wet n Wild Mega Slicks Lip Gloss – I know I’m really behind on these lip glosses, I think most girls have probably loved Mega Slicks since junior high! I, however, didn’t try them until a few weeks ago! At a couple dollars a piece I picked up three one day while shopping at WalMart – strawberry ice, red sensation, and rose gold. After I tried those, I ran back to get more and grabbed bronze berry and candy apple.  I love them! They’re not too thick or sticky and they last a really long time on my lips.  Definitely check them out if you haven’t already.

Freeman Refining Facial Cleanser Pear – I have used the same facial cleanser for about a year now and I don’t think I’ll ever switch. The Refining Facial Cleanser in pear from Freeman is awesome. It takes off all my makeup in just one simple step.  Plus it smells like a gorgeous combination of apples and pear.  Can’t live without it!

Ecotools Retractable Kabuki -  Ecotools never cease to amaze me with their products and this retractable kabuki is no exception.  It’s super soft, dense, cruelty-free, inexpensive, and perfect for travel.  What more could you want? I just pop this little brush in my purse and use it for touch-ups throughout the day.  So convenient!

Physicians Formula Baked Eyeshadow Trio in baked butter – Okay, this product couldn’t have a more perfect name, the shades meld together so perfectly and actually look buttery! I don’t know how else to describe it.  This trio is perfect for a basic neutral eye and I find myself reaching for the highlight color nearly every day.
